Turnout
The horse or pony should show regular care and attention. A good way
to teach this goal is to follow the method in the USPC Manual of
Horsemanship. BPC's minimum requirement is that the horse's feet are
properly shod or trimmed, the mane, tail, legs and body brushed free of
excessive dirt and debris, and teeth have regular veterinary
inspections. Mounts need yearly shots and a regular worming schedule.
All grooming equipment must be kept clean. Leather should be of good
quality, kept supple, clean and in good repair. The stitching should be
checked regularly to make sure it is in good condition, and fit well.
Stirrup irons should be one inch larger than the ball of the boot. Bits
should be clean and fit the horse. A plain snaffle bit is preferred.
